I started Spillcloth with a simple belief: a good cleaning cloth should also look good. We design and manufacture premium microfiber cloths—absorbent, soft, and durable enough for your motorcycle, boat, or car.

I see this all the time: people refueling their boats with a bathroom towel wrapped around them. It’s not very hygienic, and it doesn’t look nice, neat, or tidy. So I came up with a cloth that has a neatly finished hole in the middle that you place over your fuel cap—no more loose towels needed.

Inspired by my love of boating, I founded the company Spillcloth.

WHO IS HUGO:

My name is Hugo van Busschbach; I’m a young entrepreneur from Zaandijk, and I’m studying at Talland (specializing in Entrepreneurship). I live by the water, and boating is something I really enjoy. I started Spillcloth because I noticed a problem many boat owners face: unsightly splashes on their vehicles after refueling. So I came up with a solution.

When the Juliana Bridge near the Zaanse Schans was closed for an entire summer (the only route to one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions), I ferried all the stranded tourists across with a few friends using our own boats. Boating is in my blood, so it was no problem for me, and the tourists were able to continue enjoying their vacation. I also realized then just how nice it is to have a boat (and to keep it looking good).

My story about the emergency ferry service received national media attention, including coverage in the *Noordhollands Dagblad*, *Quote*, and by Arjen Lubach.
